Ratatouille
A rat named Remy wants to be a chef. Now that's just crazy, a rat that wants to be a chef? You can only guess why this is in the less-depressing films section.
Content Warning: None, but might make you hungry!
-
Chef
Carl Casper, a talented but frustrated chef who loses his job and starts a food truck business. It’s not just about the food, it's about rediscover your passion and reconnecting with your family. It's heartwarming and if you have daddy issues like me, it might make you cry.
Content Warning: Mild swearing, emotional moments.
-
Kick-Ass
Kick-Ass is like the perfect mix of action, humor, and I guess a little bit of heart. It's about a normal teenager who ends up deciding to become a superhero one day even though he has no powers or skills (or money, looking at you, Batman.) The movie doesn't take itself seriously and its very fun, chaotic and even a bit uplifting.
Content Warning: Violence, language(I mean look at the name of the movie lol), strong action scenes.
-
Bridesmaids
Bridesmaids is one of those movies you can watch over and over and still laugh like it’s your first time in my humble opinion. It’s about a woman named Annie who is asked to be the maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding, but obviously it's a comedy-movie so things go wrong. Got the good old power of friendship thing going on too!
Content Warning: Language, crude humor, emotional turmoil.
-
Bring It On
Bring It On is the ultimate cheerleading movie. Literally a classic. It's got it all. Comedy, drama, amazing. The story follows Torrance, a cheerleader who has to prove herself when she realizes her team’s routine was stolen. The movie’s got humor, heart, and a ton of girl power.
Content Warning: Mild language, teen drama, competitive tension.
-
Clueless
Clueless is a classic that never gets old. It follows Cher Horowitz, a wealthy high school student who thinks she’s got everything figured out. I almost can guarantee you have heard and probably used one of the iconic lines from this movie before, and have seen the iconic fashion from it as well. Also, the movie is based off of Jane Austen's 'Emma' so there's a little bit of that old-school charm that mixed with 90's flair.
Content Warning: Mild language, teen romance.
-
Legally Blonde
Who hasn't heard of this movie? It follows Elle Woods, a sorority girl who decides to attend Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend but ends up discovering her true potential as a brilliant lawyer. Elle is iconic, she is a legend. It has a great blend of humor, empowerment and sweet moments. It shows that you can be yourself, no matter what others think about you and it can take you farther than you can ever imagine.
Content Warning: Mild language, stereotypes.

Crazy Rich Asians
Crazy Rich Asians is one of those movies that makes you laugh, cry, and smile all at once. It follows Rachel Chu, an Asian-American economics professor, who travels to Singapore with her boyfriend, Nick, for a wedding only to discover that Nick omes from one of the richest families in Asia. It's a rom-com. Everyone in the film is pretty likable too, and lemme just say the setting?? feast for the eyes.
Content Warning: Mild language, family conflict, cultural differences.
-
Ella Enchanted
Ella Enchanted is an enchanting (haha) fairy tale. It's the story about Ella, who is cursed with obedience meaning that she ends up following any command given to her. The movie is an adevnture of Ella trying to find a way to break the curse and find her true self. It's got romance, it's got human and it's got girl power. What more can you want?
Content Warning: Mild violence, romance, fantasy elements.

The Emperor's New Groove
Does this even need an introduction? Hands down one of the best animated films ever. It’s about an emperor named Kuzco who gets turned into a llama and must team up with a peasant named Pacha to find a way back to his palace. Boom. That's all you need to know. Human-emperor, Llama, peasant. AMAZING movie.
Content Warning: It's a Disney Movie
